SARAJEVO FILM FESTIVAL : 176 MOVIES AND 1.500 CREDENTIALED PARTICIPANTS

SARAJEVO,Bosnia – 176 movies are to be aired at this year’s Sarajevo Film Festival (SFF). 16 movies are to see the world premiere.The SFF program was presented yesterday at a press conference in Sarajevo. SFF registered 1.500 credentialed participants. Most of them are professionals from around the world; producers, directors, actors, etc.

Danis Tanovic, Jasmila Zbanic, Alexander Payne, Michael Moore, Christian Mungin, Ulrich Seidel, Bela Tarr, Fatih Akin, Juliette Binoche, Steve Buchemi, Alexandra Maria Lara and Sam Riley are some of the celebrities expected at the Festival.

The SMS reservations began at 1 p.m. yesterday. Individual tickets will be sold August 12 at the main box office. Prices are the same as last year’s.

Srdjan Vuletic’s “Tesko je biti fin” (“It’s Hard to Be Nice” will open the Festival.

SERBIAN WAR CRIMINAL MILORAD TRBIC STARTED HUNGER STRIKE

SARAJEVO,Bosnia - Serbian war criminal Milorad Trbic failed to appear before the Bosnian State Court to enter a plea yesterday because he has started a hunger strike.

He was indicted by the U.N. war crimes tribunal in The Hague of genocide, crimes against humanity and violations of laws or customs of war committed during the 1992-1995 Serbian aggression against Bosnia. He was transferred for trial in Bosnia in June.

"The Bosnian State Court was informed that the accused started a hunger strike on August 6, 2007. The Court recorded a plea of not guilty in accordance with the law," a statement from the Bosnian State Court said.

As former member of the genocidal forces of the Serbians living in Bosnia, Trbic is held responsible for crime of genocide committed by the Serbian aggressor in the eastern Bosnian town of Srebrenica in July 1995, the statement said.

Some 8,000 Bosnian men and boys were killed in the Srebrenica massacre after the genocidal Serbian aggressor captured the enclave in July 1995 in what is regarded as Europe's worst atrocity since World War Two.

"The accused knowingly participated in the forcible transfer of the Bosnians from the Srebrenica enclave, as well as in the summary executions and burial of able-bodied Bosniak men from Srebrenica," the Bosnian State Court said.

On July 14,1995, Serbian war criminal Milorad Trbic and other members of the genocidal Serbian forces shot and killed outside the Grbavci school up to 20 Bosnians who had been detained inside the school's gym.

POLISH DEFENCE MINISTER VISITED BOSNIA

SARAJEVO,Bosnia – A Polish state delegation led by the Polish Defence Minister Aleksander Szczyglo visited Bosnia yesterday.The Bosnian Deputy Defence Minister Igor Crnadak and his assistants hosted the Polish delegation.

They discussed bilateral relations between the two countries, placing the emphasis on cooperation in the field of defence, the Polish Embassy announced. The Polish Minister also visit Polish troops serving as part of EUFOR in Butmir Base. He used the opportunity to congratulate them the Polish Army Day.

Minister Szczyglo also met with EUFOR Commander Rear Admiral Hans-Jochen Witthauer. They discussed the future of the EUFOR mission.
